Aegean region

Aegean Region is one of the seven geographical regions of Turkey. It takes its name from the Aegean Sea, on which it is located. It is divided into two parts as Aegean and Inner West Anatolia. It is surrounded by Marmara in the north, Central Anatolia in the east, Mediterranean regions in the south and the Aegean Sea in the west. It is the region with the longest coastline in Turkey.

The Mediterranean climate is effective in the Aegean Region. With the effect of the collapsed graben plains, the effects of the Mediterranean climate extend to the inner parts. In this section, winters are warm, snowfall and frost are not seen much. The natural vegetation is maquis at the lower elevations and forest at the higher elevations.

The region, which consists of two parts as the Coastal Aegean and the Inner Aegean, has 8 provinces. These provinces have 132 districts in total. The largest province in the Aegean Region in terms of surface area is Afyon, while the smallest province is Uşak. The Aegean city with the most districts is İzmir, while the province with the least number of districts is Uşak. The provinces of the Aegean Region can be listed as follows.
